Even though I have spent most of my life in California, I was actually born & raised in Putney, Vermont (black star on the map below). My dad built our house on land that he logged, and throughout the construction, my mom & him lived in a TINY cabin on the property.
I have a lot of fond memories of living in Vermont and now hearing about it so much on the news has made wonder if my memories of it will still hold true after the extreme flooding that they are experiencing.

Vermont was where I fell in love with horses, saw my first bear, picked out my first kitten, survived my first storm when a tree fell on our house, built a snow-easter bunny since the winter lasted so long one year, played in the mud, built forts out of leaves and sticks, played in the barn, went ice skating on the frozen ponds, picked apples from an orchard, watched the trees get tapped in the winter for maple syrup, fell asleep to frogs in the swamp, saw beaver dams, and was a kid.
