Curtis' BBQ →
I hope Curtis & his BBQ are doing ok in Vermont. This was my first memory of BBQ growing up.
Vermont
Even though I have spent most of my life in California, I was actually born & raised in Putney, Vermont (black star on the map below). My dad built our house on land that he logged, and throughout the construction, my mom & him lived in a TINY cabin on the property.
I have a lot of fond memories of living in Vermont and now hearing about it so much on the news has made wonder if my...

Chana Masala
For the next 30 days the boy and I will be eating vegan & gluten free as a part of a cleanse (along with some other guidelines) and we have started off strong by cooking some new dishes. Last night I made this tasty Indian number. I altered the recipe a little bit to pack some more veggies in and I served it with Soo Foo (a mix of brown rice, lentils & grains).

Free Yoga!
So I am a super thrifty person as I am sure a lot of us out there are, especially today. I get a weekly email of cool free/cheap events going on in the Bay Area, but today I got one that applies to everyone! A week of free yoga at participating studios (one that you don’t currently go to) It looks easy enough, just sign up here, find a studio near you - SEARCH JUST BY YOUR ZIP OR your...

Saturday Run
I think I am going to run the Golden Gate Bridge. I have actually never been on the bridge, despite having grown up in the bay area, so I think that this will be a great adventure for me! The bridge is 1.7 miles long, here I come 3.4 round-trip!

Fitness Apps: Technology & Health combine
So I recently downloaded some new fitness apps that I am really excited to try & will review once I give them some more usage, but for now, these are my first impressions. I have an Android phone, but for the iphone users out there I am sure that they have either the same or very similar apps (all of the hyperlinks are to the locations of the apps in the Android market).

Vegetarian Breakfast Tacos (for dinner)
My hour-long drive home from work normally consists of planning out dinner for the night. Last night I wasn’t really in the mood to do a lot of cooking, but also not in the mood to spend money to eat out. I ran over a list of items that we had in the house:
eggs, tortillas, lettuce, tomato, half a bag of frozen spinach and a block of questionable cheese…
I decided to create a new...
Do Life 5k
Ben & Pa were rolling across the countryside, a while back I had checked out the dates but hadn’t exactly taken it seriously when I saw that they were coming to SF. Then my friend Tonya texted me and asked me what I was doing this weekend. She had just done the 5k in Phoenix and encouraged me to go out on Sunday & check this out.
So I got up early, took Pyeper for a stroll around...

For Julie (and a lot of us) Dairy = Bad Romance
This post is for Julie but others might find it helpful too if you are looking to cut dairy from your diet. A quick reference guide to kicking some of these things out of the daily recipes. It is possible to just find substitutes for where you would normally insert your favorite dairy product and if anything just forces you to get more creative. Basic rule of thumb that I follow for each meal is:...

**WARNING this is not written from the stand-point of a typical girl. Guys if you are with a normal girl I would suggest that a Hallmark card confessing your love to her, a giant heart-shaped box of chocolates, roses (research what...
